Chayote flowering and fruiting period fertilization management

Chayote is a melon vegetable with continuous flowering of cucurbit fruit. It has a large number of flowers, a large amount of fruit, a fast larvae, and a short harvest period. It takes only 15 to 20 days from flowering and melon to mature harvest. The demand for nutrients is large and there must be sufficient supply of nutrients.

In the flowering and melon period, the roots should be applied once every 10 to 15 days. The fertilizer should be mainly N, P and K, and potassium fertilizer should be added appropriately. Each time, each plant can apply 40-50 grams of water-soluble fertilizer (20-20-20), 25-30 grams of potassium nitrate, and 3-5 kilograms of decomposed human or poultry manure water against fresh water or biogas slurry. Evenly applied in the soil around the root of the plant, it is better to use the fertilizer solution to completely penetrate into the soil without flowing out. It is also possible to apply 50-60 g of potassium phosphate (15-15-15) potassium sulfate or nitrate-based or pure sulfur-based compound fertilizer and 25-30 g of potassium sulfate to each fertilizer. Apply to the soil around the root of chayote plant, and then apply a layer of soil about 8 to 10 cm thick to cover all the fertilizer. Based on the fertilization in the roots, it is also necessary to carry out the topdressing of leaves and supplement various nutrients from the leaves. During the flowering and squashing period, spraying 0.1% magnesium sulfate, 0.1% borax, 0.1% zinc sulfate, 0.2% urea, 0.3% potassium dihydrogen phosphate and 600 times amino acid compound micronutrient fertilizer should be sprayed once every 7 to 10 days. 2 to 3 times, evenly spray all the leaves, buds and young melons to start dripping.
