According to foreign media reports, IBM researchers have recently introduced a cancer diagnostic technology called microfluidic chip, which can be used to detect samples by biopsy. The researchers said the chip can reduce the size of the liquid sample to be tested to 100 microns wide - similar to human hair.
In the test, the labeled chemical liquid enters the biopsy through one of the microchannels. After the chemical liquid is prevented from diffusing to other areas, the chip will automatically drain it to the second channel. At this time, the pathologist only It is necessary to make a judgment by observing the change of the sample under the microscope.
Emmanuel Delamarche, a nanotechnology expert at the IBM Zurich Research Institute, said the arrival of this technology will bring a more economical approach to cancer diagnosis. At present, the final diagnosis under this technology still requires a pathologist to look at the display screen. Delamarche believes that this system should become automated - the sample enters the test box and the device automatically generates the test results.
It is reported that Zurich University Hospital plans to test this microfluidic cancer diagnostic technology in the coming months.
