Boston Science and Abbott have laid off their work in the field of blood vessels

Boston Scientific is expected to lay off 455 people as it shut down its two plants in Fremont and San Jose and moved its operations to a manufacturing facility in Costa Rica. The two factories manufacture mainly electrophysiology and imaging equipment. Includes coils, stent systems, retrieval devices, intravascular ultrasound catheters, ultrasound imaging devices, ablation catheters and other devices.

A Boston Scientific spokesperson explained: "As part of Boston Scientific, the company has been working hard to improve its equipment to better serve our customers and meet the needs of patients. As early as 2013, it announced plans to upgrade it. The single-use operating equipment business in Remont and San Jose, Calif., is transferred to our manufacturing facility in Costa Rica. This decision will facilitate the full coordination of the existing infrastructure, technology and capabilities of Boston Scientific. We are now nearing this completion. Transfer, by the end of October, San Jose and Fremont will no longer produce these equipment."

Abbott will lay off 244 people at the California plant, including its Diagnostic and Vascular Headquarters, 81 employees in St. Corrala.

The spokesperson explained: “Abbott is integrating both internally and externally to increase workforce efficiency and ensure competitiveness in a challenging global environment. The relevant employees have completed their resignation by July 30.”
