Olsson Ruby 3D printer nozzle for hard materials

Release date: 2017-01-03

On December 30th, 3D Verkstan, a European 3D printer distribution company, introduced a new Olsson Ruby 3D printer nozzle that prints new abrasive materials. You can now purchase this printer part at some dealers in the US and Europe.

The Olsson Ruby nozzle is made in Sweden and is equipped with a super ruby tip. The hardness of the tip is second only to diamond and can print hard and abrasive materials. According to Tiangong, these materials include carbon fiber, steel, wood composites, boron carbide, tungsten, and phosphorescent pigments. Of course, the nozzle is also suitable for conventional materials such as PLA, ABS, CPE / PET and nylon.

3D Verkstan said in a news that they originally developed Olsson Ruby to print boron carbide (B4C) composites, one of the hardest materials known. Except for the ruby tip, the rest of the nozzle is made of brass because brass has excellent thermal conductivity.

3D Verkstan tested new nozzles in Sweden and also invited makers around the world to test them. After such a large amount of testing, they finally decided to release this innovative 3D printer product, and hope to expand the range of 3D printing materials without affecting speed, quality or convenience . According to feedback on its website, the makers and companies involved in the test were very satisfied with the results of the new nozzles.

3DVerkstan CEO Daniel Ljungstif commented: "After nearly a year of testing, we are excited to bring this exciting upgrade to desktop 3D printing. Olsson Ruby is a high-tech nozzle with a well-designed ruby tip With unique performance... Now, electronics manufacturers such as Norautron are using Olsson Ruby and carbon-filled materials (Colorfabb XT-CF20) to print ESD-safe manufacturing tools and fixtures."

Olsson Ruby was designed by Anders Olsson for 3D Verkstan. Anders also designed the Olsson Block for the Ultimaker 2+ 3D printer. The new 3D printer nozzles were originally created to make it easier for researchers at Uppsala University in Sweden to print hard materials in 3D.

Now, 3DVerkstan is selling this new nozzle through its global network of partners . It is priced at $90 (excluding VAT/tax) and is a very reasonable price . The ruby tip nozzle having a large number of desktops are compatible with the FDM 3D printer, including Ultimakers, Lulzbot TAZ, and with any E3D V4 3.0mm, E3D V5 3mm or hot end E3D V6 3mm 3D printer.
