Ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation of isolated pig liver

Release date: 2015-06-01

Recently, the Department of Ultrasound, the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University, published a paper to explore the relationship between ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation (RFA) output power, ablation time, and ablation mode and treatment range through isolated pig liver experiments. Provide a reference basis. The study pointed out that in RFA treatment, the appropriate output power, ablation time and ablation mode should be selected to obtain the stereoscopic spherical ablation range to achieve the desired therapeutic effect. The article was published in the Journal of Guangxi Medical University in the 05th issue of 2014.

30 fresh isolated pig livers were taken and the fresh isolated pig liver RFA was guided by ultrasound. Ultrasound was used to observe the changes of pig liver sonogram. Cut the pig liver to observe and measure the range of coagulative necrosis, calculate the ablation solidification area, analyze the relationship between RFA output power, ablation time and ablation mode and treatment range.

Two-dimensional ultrasound in RFA showed that the strong echo gasification range of the isolated pig liver ablation zone gradually expanded to a certain extent and no longer expanded. The area of coagulative necrosis gradually expanded with the increase of output power and ablation time. The average ablation area of single needle two points was significantly larger than that of single needle. The difference of each group was statistically significant (P<0.01).
